Senior Software Engineer – C#/.NET

Role overview

You will join the Engineering team, which values delivering high-quality software, promotes a “you build it, you run it” DevOps culture, and embraces continuous delivery, agile workflows (Scrum/Kanban) and automation of testing and CI/CD pipelines. As a Senior Software Engineer (C#/.NET), you’ll write efficient, maintainable code, serve as a subject-matter expert, mentor other engineers, collaborate with design/architecture leads, and ensure scalability, maintainability and performance of our product suite.

Key responsibilities

• Guide system architecture decisions to align technical direction with business goals.
• Conduct thorough code reviews: ensure best practices, identify issues and mentor junior/mid-level engineers.
• Provide technical leadership and knowledge-sharing across the team.
• Work cross-functionally (product, design, client/stakeholder teams) to ensure seamless delivery and alignment.
• Break down large, complex tasks into manageable components and distribute work among the team.
• Actively participate in agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, prioritisation.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to clarify requirements, refine scope and align with business objectives.
• Handle complex technical challenges: debugging, performance issues, scaling/distributed systems beyond the scope of less experienced engineers.
• Participate in the on-call rotation (you build it, you own it) and support operational ownership.

Primary technologies

• C# and .NET (Core)
• Web applications, APIs (SOAP/REST)
• Database work (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server)
• Version control, build processes, test frameworks
• Cloud/DevOps tooling

Desirable (secondary) technologies

• Other languages: Python, Java, C++ (plus TypeScript/React, Angular, JavaScript)
• Cloud infrastructure: Azure (and/or AWS) — services like Lambda, ECS, DynamoDB, RDS, OpenSearch, Kinesis, Redis, NoSQL.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience building secure, scalable distributed systems running across dozens/hundreds of servers.
• Experience with e-commerce, retail, online marketplaces, digital advertising is a plus.
• Experience working with teams across multiple time zones.

Minimum qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience developing in C#.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Experience developing web applications, working with databases, consuming APIs.
• Familiar with version control, build processes, test frameworks.
• Able to work independently with limited supervision.

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or closely related field.
• Experience with cloud computing infrastructures (Azure/AWS).
• Use of source-code repositories (Git/Azure DevOps).
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• Performance tuning / optimisation for high-scale systems.
• Experience working in a rapidly changing environment, strong attention to detail.
